Can you believe 1/3 of the year is already complete? As they say, time flies, but we’d like to slow things down a bit and focus on the upcoming month. We have lots of planned activity, focusing on the theme of informed consent.

First, our Wednesday AccrualNet Blog Posts will all have an informed consent angle. We have a bonus week this month, so the next four weeks we will be blogging about this topic. Included in that list will be our Guest Expert Blog post from one of our NCI colleagues who will write about the NEW NCI informed consent template – this is a huge accomplishment, so make sure to tune in at the end of the month for that post.

Have you ever done a search in the AccrualNet search box? Well, if you search “informed consent,” you will see more than 100 references to articles and tools! I think it’s high time we highlight some of these. We will be featuring some of these pieces in our Editor’s Picks this month, so be sure to check them out as well.

In addition to our themed Wednesday blogs, another new feature we will be adding soon is our inaugural virtual Journal Club. As Annette told you back in her 4/17 Wednesday post, we will be featuring Dr. Barbara Biedrzycki and her article, “Factors and Outcomes of Decision Making for Cancer Clinical Trial Participation." If you are interested in participating, please be on the lookout for a call to sign up.

So, be ready for a month filled with good information, tools, and discussion! We hope to continue these types of themed features where we connect many of our blogs, articles, journal club, and conversations around a particular topic. If you have any suggestions on themes or areas of interest that you would like highlighted in the future, just let us know.

And, Happy May Day!
